It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the world of social media management for us here at Social Bods. Due to illnesses, snow, and various other stuff, we’ve got a news roundup for you this week which actually covers two weeks. Sorry – when we get pushed for time, client work comes first

Whatever happened to Seal?

Anyway, first up is this heart-warming story of a seal who has been returned to the wild after a misadventure with a Frisbee. We can’t use it anywhere for clients, but we enjoyed reading it anyway. Mind you, we think that he’s never been the same since he left Adamski.

Going underground

Yeah, we liked this one. Sadly the language makes it totally unsuitable. Shame. https://secretldn.com/honest-london-tube-map-honestly-hilarious/

Don’t talk about the war!

This one kind of made it into client work this week – we were researching Enigma for an article. We didn’t use this one specifically though, so it makes it into our list. If you’ve seen The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Alan Turing, then this is a fantastic look at the actors and the real-life people they played in the movie.

Cats, cats, cats

Zoe found this one. Yes, it’s about cats.  https://www.boredpanda.com/two-faced-cat-british-short-hair-france-jean-michel-labat/

More cats, cats, cats

And another cat story, because we just don’t share enough of them. If we could have a client who can talk about cats and cat-tech relatively easily, then we can stop putting these sorts of stories into our non-news round-up

On a serious note

This one was interesting – it’s about inherent bias towards job applicants. If you’ve read Freakonomics, you’ll already be familiar with the concept of how employers and HR managers discriminate against people with foreign-sounding names. This is a great piece which provides something to think about for anyone working in HR.

The ‘talk’

And lastly – would you pay someone to talk to your children about the ‘birds and the bees’?

Joanne Brady is head bod at Social Bods. She is a Twitter fan. She is seriously considering paying someone to talk to her children about the birds and the bees, although she does have a teen who seems to know everything about everything, so might just hire her out instead.
